Still up

Took this last night whilst we watched a film that cost 49 MILLION dollars to make. It was called Chappie. A 2015 film starring Hugh Jackman ( the draw for me to be honest ) and Sigourney Weaver. Think Extreme Robocop and you are part way there. It's set in South Africa and it was very gory and violent and sweary!

I also watched Billionaire Boy. It was brilliant! We've read the book at work and I do get rather hysterical reading the words Bum Fresh aloud the more I read it!!! It's a good story and I just loved the lad who played Joe Spud! Destined for big things I imagine! The Ruffington School motto made me chuckle. "Doing The Best We Can." Also the teacher was spot on and scarily like me!!!
I play classical music "because it's good for the brain" when they are reading and I do say "it doesn't need a discussion" a lot!! I really enjoyed it.
As well as sitting on my bum,
I spent yesterday putting away every single other scrap of Christmas except my tree which stays till The 6th. The HG was stricken with man flu yesterday but I kept the whinging to a minimum by applying round the  clock max strength
drug cocktails and faux sympathy!!
I cleaned the fridge out a little. The only thing I've thrown away is some manky sprouts and some pate, so Christmas waste was minimal. It was bound to be, I don't buy in excess. There's a saving jar thingy I've seen on FB. Hang on let me get a photo
I might start this, but I reckon I'll forget or I'll not have the right/enough actual change in the house to do it!!! Also by December it'll be a fortune lol
I might do it backwards!! I'll have to start with some I.O.U.s!

Back to work tomorrow, I have to take two forms of ID with me. Why????? Why does the First Aid training people need me to prove who I am? The whole staff is being trained en masse. I'm quite affronted by the whole ID thing frankly.

It is not adding to my generally less than normal sunny nature today.

It's my last full day ( thanks to bloody work ) with Miss 21. She and the BF went out last night after asking us to go with them- sweet but we declined due to man flu reasons ( plus they should spend it together ).
As yet, no one has surfaced! It's going to be brutal tomorrow! I did wake at 6.30am but I ignored my bladder and went back to sleep. I reawoke mid assembly time! 9.11am! All three of us are back at work tomorrow. I WAS going to start my 'must eat less' regime yesterday, but didn't. I'm not sure about today either as I know there's a piece of Christmas Cake left! In all honesty it'll prob start will good intentions tomorrow morning! I'll ignore the staff pub lunch tradition that seems to have started on inset days.

I'm writing this after I just had my first bath of 2016. I used my No7 smellies the HG got me. I'm knocking myself sick with the cloying smell actually!!! I don't do strongly scented stuff. I'm making myself dry heave!! I might have to go shower it off!! Then hair dry and clean out Barry! My life is so glamorous rock and roll!

What are you lot up to today?

Lots of love from

Rachel *meh* Radiostar xxx

  1. Our tree is still up until tomorrow and we have no Christmas leftovers left....thank goodness. All I threw away was a small piece of dried turkey and a couple of manky carrots so very pleased with that.
Shame you have to go back to work tomorrow-x-

Our tree is still up but I've started to take bits down now...I've only thrown away some sorry looking sprouts so far and the birds have had the last bit of dried up chocolate log....Debbie x

  3. My decs are all tucked away now, I even took the cobwebs down. There are some squares of mincemeat slice and a half tub of clotted cream in the freezer. The last few sprouts went into a stir fry last night, just a few cauli florets that escaped my eagle eye went into the compost bin. I have a savings tin that I may try the idea in, it has to be opened with a tin opener so no dipping in. I have already thrown a £2 coin and a handful of 5p,s in there so have a head start. I have Billionaire Boy on the sky box so will watch that later, when it rains again. I am soooo pleased that I am retired.

  4. The thought of the first day back at work is usually worse than the reality. I say go for the pub lunch, something to look forward to. I hope your HG is feeling a bit brighter today. X

  6. All the trimmings and tree are down here and it's simple January for us. I tried that money challenge and it works out to an average of about £12 per week which is an awful lot to find. It sounds easy but when you get to the bigger amounts it's ridiculous. Might as just as well spend less and leave the money in the bank. I'm trying to syphon off £10 per week but I'm sure that will peter out eventually. Good intentions and all that.
I can't do with smelly stuff either.

  8. If by any chance you come across me in, say a wool shop, and I collapse with a suspected heart attack I will expect to be shown your passport or driving licence and a utility bill with your address on it (original only, no copies) before you proceed to resuscitate me.

    1. Oh Philip, your comment made me laugh out loud! Please remember mind you, what with my dodgy knee and everything, to collapse on something waist high!!

  9. Sat in a car for 3 hours driving from Somerset to Hampshire, now catching up with blogs and sewing later, not touched a needle for 4 days I have withdrawal symptoms. Just a few cards left up to the 6th.

  10. bah, to work :o(
Good for you having your tree still up. I've taken all the decs down today, and think we leave ours up a good amount of time. Some misery guts neighbours were not just thinning out, but taking down EVEYRTHING Boxing Day. Each to their own and all that, but one in particular seemed to be running a race to get hers up and on first, switching them on before December even started, then *wallop* she takes them down the day after Christmas!

Not looking forward to Tuesday. Violet is enjoying sleeping in, and has been waking up late (for her). Today, she slept until after 8!

Can't do that cash thing. Sometimes I'm down to my last 5p in my purse! Nice idea, but not one I can do.

Hope you have a good day tomorrow! :O) x

    1. Bloody neighbours!! I have stated on here somewhere that vulgarity of decorative Christmas crap is directly proportional to the amount of benefits one scrounges!!!

  11. I really like the savings jar idea but I'm rubbish at keeping things up and if it lasts a year I can tell you now I'd fail! The thought of you dry heaving over your gorgeous No7 smellies has made me laugh, sorry. Miss 21's trip has come round quickly hasn't it. Bet she's really excited and if she's anything like Amy she probably won't mind you being at work as long as all her washing and ironing is done. Good luck with the First Aid. xx

  12. We went to Winchester today in the pouring rain and I looked at some nice fabric in CnH that had 25% off it. It accidentally came home with me, along with some lacey bits and bobs and a fleece for the dogs that I've just turned into a blanket by attaching some blinking fiddly bias binding. I'm sure you'll get your mojo back tomorrow, or failing that on Tuesday when all the small people return XX

  14. Happy New Year! In reference to your previous post - Panda Babies! Too cute. Good luck with the back to work thing, my small person still has another week off, we will be doing the de-Christmasing over the coming week - a bit down each day, it seems a bit less brutal that way. Some fairy lights will stay up to relieve the January gloom a little.

  15. I've just started that savings challenge too. How long I'll continue is anyone's guess! We need to save a squillion pounds cos we get married next year. The thought of the expense of making me feel faint! Hope your start back to work is as painless as possible!

  16. Tree down and all decs away here, as otherwise it will drag on too long for me! I hate the ID thing too, sometimes they seem to get obsessed with it and for what purpose and then other things, nothing, nada even when you would expect and it and to be frank it would probably be warranted. Thank goodness for photo driving licences I guess. Hope that the return to work wasn't too too bad today! xx
