The reason for my gurning and the title of this post is
I finally watched the last ever Downton. The feel good factor levels in my blood right now are set at maximum. Slightly tinged with sadness at the lack of
Next time....as the credits rolled....
Right I think I managed that with no spoilers! Today I'm off for a 'look' in Hobbycraft. I've decided my next knit ( gulp ) is a jumper for the HG. It's going to take me a looooooong time and a LOOOOOOT of wool. Hobbycraft has a good 3 for 2 offer on so I'm going for a look to see if I can get what I need. I'm also fancying doing a bit of stitching after reading Marlene's blog all year, Suzanne has done some cross stitch and Pam has said she's going to get stitching. I've never really got on with cross stitch, my genre of choice is tapestry. I used to do loads in my (clearly wild and mispent Rock and roll ) youth. Tapestry is really just half cross stitch. It's quite spendy but I've had a look online and I've decided my Christmas pennies off my Ma in Law will go on this .
I've also seen some long stitch kits, which I've never seen before. So I might try one of those too!
We finished off the turkey yesterday and think tonight's tea will be something simple like jacket potato with beans!
This next pic is for Sadie.
Wasn't Downton fab? I've watched it twice. Waiting to see Mrs Bates in Dark Angel now.
ReplyDeleteThat cushion is lovely. Stunning colours.
Well happy hunting in Hobbycraft. I'm off shortly and hoping Derby isn't too busy.
Have a lovely day-x-
I'm going to watch it again too!! Hopeless romantics are we!
DeleteHi Rachel *waves* just been having a marathon catching up on your blog session. Makes me laugh lots! Loved reading about your c-day. Sounds perfect. Blessings x
ReplyDeleteOh Hello Kim :-) thanks for popping by my little bit of the Internet. I'll be stopping by your blog later!
DeleteSNAP! I'm being taken to Hobbycraft for a look today as well! I also want to take up a new craft.....it won't be stitching though, in any shape or form - I just don't get on with small stitches and needles, I always seem to use my fingers as the pin cushion. Downton was lovely, I liked all the little hints of future romances (even if we'll never get to see them develop). That tapestry cushion cover is glorious.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it'll look something like once I get it!
DeleteLove your design for cross stitch, and thank you for your lovely comments, watch out cross stitch is very addictive, I'm off to Hobbycraft this morning, I have a couple things on my wish list and some money to spend. Your lucky with the nails, mine would have come off in the Christmas lunch.
ReplyDeleteIt's a tapestry kit Marlene, and if it's not printed out for me, I'll cry!
DeleteLong stitch is easy peasy and Very quick - I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteBe careful in Hobbycraft!
I got some billy bargains Sue! Nothing full price! I'll show you tomorrow :-)
Deletelove the tapestry kit, will watch your progress, im jumper knitting, aran weight for a quick knit!
ReplyDeleteDon't hold your breath between progress reports! I'm notoriously s l o w!! I bought some Aran weight wool today. So cosy and soft X

ReplyDeleteThanks Tom. New to my blog?
DeleteI've never seen Downton, but most of my friends seem to share your sentiment abut the final episode.
ReplyDeleteI really fancy a jacket potato or something tonight, I am also craving a bit of salad or something fresh tasting, it's been all about the root veg recently!
I'm kinda jealous that you've all that lovely Downtonness waiting for you should you choose to! I had a cheese salad bun in the end! Couldn't face putting the oven on.
DeleteAw . . . I never watched Downton but I guess there will be boxed sets, won't there?
ReplyDeleteJ x
Oh there will be. Lucky you being able to watch it all at once !
DeleteSometimes m'thinks you're just a right daft bugger, other times I know it for sure. I hope that you were not insinuating that HG has piled on the pounds hence the requirement of huge amounts of wool? ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe HG never piles on the pounds ( grrrrr ) but he's just rather larger than the normal recipients of my creations who only take one ball of wool!!
DeleteI have never watched Dalton Abbey! shock horror haha maybe one day I will watch it from the beginning. I have done a lot of tapestry too I prefered to to cross stitch because it is quicker, I don't think my eyes are up to it now though, I love your choice it's beautiful I have tried long stitch too an that's even quicker. Good luck with the sweater, after the headache of making man socks I think it's going to be a long time before I attempt another man thing. Have a great day. :)
ReplyDeleteAlready, just hours later, I'm regretting my rash public decision !!
DeleteCan I admit to never watching Downton - I must be the only person not to. I hope you have a fab Hobbycraft trip I had the choice of Hobbycraft or Abakhan yesterday so chose the latter. A divine time I had too x
ReplyDeleteYou are clearly not judging by the above comments! There's loads of things I've never watched. Ooo what did you get???
DeleteDownton was great wasn't it! I might have watched it again today..... Love the nails, I could do with some of those! Great for special occasions. xx
ReplyDeleteImPress. What I also like about them us that they don't damage your nails like gel nails do!
DeleteI thought Downton was great too. I was very pleased to see everyone have a happy ending!
ReplyDeleteIt warmed the cockles!
