Day 7 and now Day 8

Day 7 was long. Main issues were the coughing and the tiredness. I finished the 2nd Charity shop jigsaw - turns out no pieces missing! But if you look closely you will see the piece that somehow ended up in the washer! I found it in the washer door seal at the weekend. I think it must have dropped in the pocket of my cardigan when I was sorting pieces. Glad I saved it because I’d have been very annoyed had I thrown it and then realised! I’ve sellotaped it in for the next time it’s done! Probably by my sister!

As the HG went to bed straight after tea feeling rubbish and ill, like he had been complaining about feeling crap end day 5 and day 6, I stayed downstairs a while and promptly fell fast asleep - think it did me good being propped up. I think I woke up at 11.30pm and dragged myself up to my bed.

Day 8 - the trials really begin. The HG has tested positive.

His n hers !

To be honest I’m amazed it’s been this long. Even though I’ve been really careful to keep out of the way, sleeping in a different room etc I’m not thinking what a waste of time! So now we have both got to try and keep and 24 safe. I’ll be watching the HG like a hawk though with his one kidney. Apart from the cough and the horrid taste in my mouth and a headache I feel fine now. I’ve done nothing except visit the bathroom and get in my bed! It’s lovely and I’ve missed it! I’ve let my boss know and said that because I am positive and still feel rough then I’m definitely not going to be in this week now. She can then plan and get sorted too. Fingers crossed the HG gets away lighter than me! The curse of the self employed is no work, no money and times are lean as he was off before Christmas for a couple of days with his back, then off over Christmas and now sodding Covid.

Will report back on day 9.

  4. You've been so very careful but it's such an infectious virus. I'm very, very glad you are feeling better now though. Go steady and I hope HG doesn't have it so badly.

    1. It almost was inevitable! It’s just futile to be enraged but I am really annoyed with COVID!

  5. Tis a blow that HG has tested positive m'dear, like you say fingers crossed that he will not be too badly affected. Have total sympathy with you both being self employed myself, the last two months and some have been very hard financial for us due to the snap. But take it from me you will both cope m'dear (trust me, I am a gardener).
On the positive side it does sound that you are picking up a little yourself o short one. I always find being propped upright helps ease a bad cough somewhat (as does a couple of very stiff hot toddies).

  6. Oh no! It was to be expected I suppose, hope he doesn't feel too bad. It's strange how some people escape it, even living in the same house. My eldest granddaughter (8) got it but her mum, dad and younger sister escaped. Yet, my other granddaughter (18 months) got it quite a few days after her mum & dad had it. My son in law had it a while before daughter and youngest granddaughter succumbed. Me, husband, my mum & dad have escaped completely. Husband is having his op today - so far so good, not cancelled, etc. My daughter has returned to school today - still coughing but negative. She says it's a nightmare (she teaches in a secondary school) - she's teaching in the gym - lots of classes in there - and most of the teenage kids are refusing to wear masks.

    1. Our very good friends all had
It at their house except one daughter, so I’m holding out hope for our son! Long may the four of you be free from it! X

  7. Very glad you are now on the mend! I have followed all your recent posts and you have indeed had a hard time of it. Sorry though HG has gone down with it too now and hope he does only get a mild bout. I so know about the SE curse! I was self-employed for 35 years and being off sick was far too expensive and always meant a loss of paying students especially during my last years of employment. Take care. Amanda x

  8. Congrats on finding that last piece (small victories!). Sorry about the husband, but maybe he won't have such a bad time of it, like you had. Everyone's different. Here, we can't even get ahold of rapid tests, so it is said that if you have symptoms, just assume you have it and isolate. I am glad you are starting to feel better! -Jenn

  9. Glad you're feeling better, but sorry your HG now has it. It was our daughter who got it first in our house, then me 5 days later, and husband 2 days after me.

  11. I don't think you could have been more careful so it's a shame HG has tested positive. Fingers crossed he won't be as poorly as you've been. Glad to read you're feeling a little better, let's hope the worst of it is over for you now. xx
