Fantastic Friday

Well, I don’t know about you, but my Friday this week was fecking amazeballs! It was the one where my HG finished early and we set off and drove the 40 minutes or so, stopping off to buy some token gifts...as we went to meet one of my best bloggy chums IN REAL LIFE!!!
Now, I’ve had the absolute luck and pleasure to do this before and as then, it felt like we’d been best of friends for 100 years!
We spent a brilliant afternoon in the company of the lady what used to blog at Life at No38
We got on famously and rather more amusing were our respective other halves who got on like a housemon fire and were worse for gossiping than us! Three hours passed by in what seemed
Like minutes and it totally made my Easter Holidays. I feel very blessed to have such good friends both online and in real life and it makes me feel all warm and cosy inside! I actually love these ladies and their families who I’ve been lucky enough to meet up with.

Remember of course you really shouldn’t meet up with strangers off the internet.

Other things I have done with my time off school is a bit of all the things I love, seeing friends and family, knitting, sewing, faffing about here and there. I’ve had my eyes tested, glasses ordered, paperwork done, clothes for the charity bag sorted out, sold my now too big for me boots on the bay of e, cooked and eaten some corkers of meals, been texting and messaging a couple of the girls from my SW class who have been finding it tough to stay on track , not sure I’m helping or hindering - we will find out on Tuesday- bet they’ll have lost and I will have had my first gain!!!

One make I will share is a shopping bag I made this week. I found some neutral material that’s been in my stash for aaaaaages. I looked on the selvedge and read the name Sanderson and the name and designer and the year 2005, so I googled it. Have I told you this before?! It feels
Like I have! Anyway someone on the bay of e is selling it for £21.99 a metre. I had paid £3.50 for two
Metres! I could have made
Myself £44, except I chopped into it to make the lining for my cheap tea towel shopping bag!

I helped my friend make some cushion covers for her new dining chairs using pillow cases she got From home bargains.
Today I had to buy some new knickers after admitting defeat in wearing up what I’ve got after, in the safety and privacy of my own bedroom, my old favourites completely fell down when I was getting dressed!!

Lots of love from

Rachel *calmy stepped out of them and carried on* Radiostar xxx

  1. You lucky girl meeting up with your blogging buddies. Suzanne from Life at number 38 lives about 10-15 minutes from where I was brought up in Manchester! Now I'm only about 4,200 miles away in Canada!! Love the shopping bag you made. Today it is snowing, as usual and we are supposed to get quite a bit more overnight. I think Spring has forgotten about us this year!!

    1. It really is a small world! After chatting, we discovered, mine and Suzanne's respective father in laws were both doing the same job on the railways and we like to think their paths crossed too! I think it's going to be a Springless year this year - I'm still cold!

  2. Love your bunny teatowel bag, I used mine for two small bags, lining it with the carrot 🥕 teatowel which came in the set of three, our grandson Will loves the bags, he fills and carry around his small toys. Glad you are having a brilliant week.

    1. I thought about lining it with the carrot one that came with it but will make that into another grocery shopping bag specifically for when I'm buying carrots!!! Joking - it will be a bag though that I can take shopping with me! Probably unlined.

  3. Love the bunny bag. Sounds like you've had a fun Easter break. You have done so well with your weight loss so yeah to smaller knickers.

  4. Ooh, how fabulous to meet up with more bloggy friends again, especially if you get on so well. I'm always a little envious of those who manage to do so, and I imagine there would have been plenty to chat about. X

    1. It was great Jules. We chatted and laughed so much! I suppose we do already know so much via blogging A I said it was like meeting a well loved celebrity, but without the awkwardness you might expect!

  5. I've been away for the last six weeks so need to catch up! So glad you had a wonderful meet up with Suzanne, I always enjoyed her blog. I have had the opportunity to meet up with fellow bloggers in the past and it has been great fun.

Had to laugh at your knickers experience...rings some bells here too!

Great bag, I have had fun making tote bags in the past. Haven't made any in ages.

  7. How fab for you and Suzanne to have a meet up.
That bunny fabric is just gorgeous. I nearly bought some Peter Rabbit fabric in Hobbycraft on Friday but I resisted.
Yay....little knickers...lol. I was stoked when I was able to buy some that didn't resemble a tent and I think it won't be long before I can go down another size.
So glad you had a fantastic Friday.

    1. It makes me think of that ‘Does my
Bum look big in this?’ Question
YES, you need big knickers because you have a big bum!! Well we can now say not as big !!!

  8. I am snorting here about the pants. I like getting new pants (marks and spencers everydays, can't be doing with frilly edged minimal fabric bottom-eating ones). It sounds like a lovely Easter break and I continue to be so impressed with the whole weight-loss thing. Lovely bag with the expensive liner :o)- it is rather beautiful XX

  9. Hoping to meet up with that same buddy at their caravan when we finally get our motorhome-you’ll hear the squeal from here! Knickers were my downfall too and I haven’t worn that size since 1974! You sound as if you have had a lovely and much needed break, and been productive too. I quilted my own motorhome quiltie today and although it won’t win any prizes, it will keep me warm. Love your bag and it’s so funny that my friend and I decided on Thursday that it’s time to try lining a tote bag. I’m trying a bit of plaid that’s been lurking forever and a sheet that is too big for our new bed but too good to give away. Enjoy the rest of your break.

    1. It’s so easy to line one- make it exact the same as the outer one but a smidge smaller in length and depth!
I’m so excited for you to get to meet Suzanne!! She’s awesome x

  10. It was great to finally meet you face to face Rachel, loved every minute/hours of our get together and I'm hoping there will be more in the future. It felt like I already knew you through the blog but surprisingly it was exactly the same with your HG - such easy company. I thought we could talk, but those menfolk certainly gave us a run for our money. I had my beady eye on your bag all afternoon and I'm going to see if I can make one myself. The goodies were so good. Thank you!

Thank goodness your knickers fell down in the privacy of your own bedroom, although it would have made a fantastic blogging story if you'd been out and about! xx

    1. Hahaha to the knickers! I’d probably try to calmly step out of them and walk away only to get tangled up and face plant the pavement or something!!! Still smiley about our day x

When I lost weight yonks ago I didn't have the cash to replace things and my skirt fell down one day when I was out and about. Fun times.
