Miss 21 turns 22!

Oh, I'm all huffy now because I started this blog post, full of wittiness and excellent sentence structure and it vanished whilst I was away dredging up, finding this post for you. If you are squeamish I would advise tread carefully!

http://eternally28.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/this-time-17-years-ago-i-was-3cm.html

( please note that Mr R in this post IS the HG - it's from when my blog was just being created really )

Whilst you are reading there, I'm going to try to remember what I just wrote! Hang on!

I was droning on  chattering away about how Miss 22 is having her first, officially out from under the jurisdiction of my roof, grown up birthday!

Pause for me to rent my heart out!

She started work on Monday in a proper career path job. Starting out as a trainee Optical assistant for Boots ( with its fantastic perks of the job discounts ) and eventually leading to be an Optemetrist and maybe Optician. I admit it's a zillion miles from what I assumed she'd go for but after saying they'd contact her at the end of the week, they rang on the same day as her interview to offer her the job, it's what she wants! She started on Monday and loves it so far!

She's coming home tomorrow so I've had to buy an emergency blow up bed that she'll be sleeping on in my craft room! She's doing the race for life in Preston on Sunday. Then she'll have to go back because of work! It's such a thrill to say that! I think her and the beau will have booked a holiday already! They were thinking of Mexico. I've not even booked ours yet. We are thinking of Cornwall!
She's also doing The Great North Run in September. I'm positive she takes after me with all this running.......
( ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha )

Not even sure if she wants a cake as she's in training! I'll ask her later and will bake or not tomorrow.

Right, I've been in my archives again.

Here you'll be able to learn Miss 22's name! I just re read my post - I think I need to do some sugarcraft soon. I do enjoy it.

And now I've totally forgotten what else I was going to write about so I'll share some gorgeous flowery to finish off my post for my gorgeous girl. My third and final peony has flowered. The blooms are bigger than my hand! So heavy too they need to be staked up.

Lots of love from

Rachel * my daughter is only 6 years younger than my blog age now * Radiostar xx

  1. Huge congratulations to Miss 22. I was just about to have some breakfast but having read the first dredged up post (yes, I somehow made it to the happy ending) I have come over quite queasy. Be a proud mum Rachel. It sounds like you created a good 'un there. X

  4. Happy Birthday Miss 22. Hope your day is wonderful.
Even though my daughter was born 36 and a half years ago I can remember it like it was yesterday. She was a month overdue (yes really) and I ended up having a C section too as my machinery didn't work for her to arrive by normal channels...lol.
Have a fab weekend with your daughter-x-

  5. Happy birthday to your 22 year old.
Our youngest works as a practice manager in an opticians, she started with the plan to do more eye things and then didn't fancy the close-up-ness to people! so went for the business side. She's able to tryout all the new glasses designs - just orders what she likes!!

  6. Happy birthday to your daughter!! So, what did she go to college (?) university (?) for to become an optometrist? That's great that she has landed a job that she loves. I went back and read your post when she becomes 18. That was quite the cake!! -Jenn

  11. Great post, the peony is perfect, just what I was hoping for. read the 3cm post and had to laugh, my labour was long, painful and boring but luckily I did not need surgical intervention, just lots and lots of stitching.

  12. Happy Birthday to your grown up young lady!

Have read both previous posts now, much chortling at your Labour Tale. One of the best, well written, highly entertaining blog posts I've ever read. And I've read a lot! I'm not going to tell you mine, you might punch me in the head for smugness! (Also had scientology whispers due to my silence, and when I went in, I was already 7 cms *smug* did pretty well at home, but oof, labour pains HURT!!!!!)

Loved your 18 cakes. Totally agree with the birthday sparklers. I gave up trying to light 5 on Violet's cake this year, just left it at one, they take too long to catch.

I hope you have a gorgeous weekend of birthday fun and frippery.

Love that peony. I'd have chopped that off and stuck it in a vase in a flash! ;O) xx

    1. Lol you peonie murderer!! Although I'm sad I didn't because the monsoon and winds at the weekend battered the blooms into submission. I counted 18 blooms. Not one left now :-(

Your labour sounded like my little sisters. Went in when waters broke. Was 7cm. Took two paracetamol. Fell asleep. Woke up. Had a twinge, baby born. Back in size ten jeans next day!!!

  15. Happy Birthday to Miss 22 and congratulations on her new job. If I'd have got here sooner I'd have said cake definitely. With all that running she'll soon work it off.

Have read both your previous posts. The cake was gorgeous, I was very impressed with the butterflies. And I know I shouldn't say this but the labour one was really funny - until you wrote she weighed 9lbs 7oz. Bloody hell! My labour with Amy sounds very similar to yours but she only weighed 5lbs 6oz.

Love the peony. I don't think I've ever seen a flower as big as that. I'm definitely going to have to buy one of those for the garden next year. Have a lovely week. xx

    1. That peony plant is well over 80 years old! But I think I'm going to buy those proper caged supports for it next year, it's the biggest and tallest of the three varieties I have. It seems to spread well too.
Amy must have been soooo diddy! Miss 22 went straight into 0-3 months clothes! All those teeny newborn vests and baby grows I'd bought n washed were useless!!
We did have cake - I cheated n bought one!
Never mind having a lovely week
I can't wait for the weekend!
