And Bluebell!
Well hello dear old little blog of mine, it has been a while! The stormy seas I reference in my title are what I am looking at right now!
I'm in a luxury lodge on the Solway Firth, nestled between Kircudbright and Castle Douglas. It's called Rascarrel Bay and I am in love with it. I've just come in from the freezing cold outside, but it was a joy because I was in the hot tub! The fire is roaring, I've a cheeky glass of half term red on the go, All creatures Great and Small ( new version, season 5 new to us ) is on the TV, knitting beside me and a very snoozy Spaniel curled up in her bed at my feet.
The waves are crashing over the rocks and it is rather spectacular. This place is a gem. When we were in the hot tub on our first night, the skies were so clear and dark without any light pollution, I could actually see the Milky Way.
We needed this complete getaway to just relax and be. And that is what we have done....
....except it was quite the palava because there is no phone signal ( but full internet power, hence this post,), getting the HG an emergency Dental Appointment for a troublesome tooth. A wee trip to Dumfries and £36 lighter, minus a tooth, we gingerly drove back through the scary black roads to our safe haven! Next day, Madam BarkyPants decided to run herself daft on the beach and cut and grazed all her paws, so emergency Vet Visit in Castle Douglas today - booked via emails landed us with a very modest £71 bill for some antibiotics, some pain relief and a cone of shame! She will not stop licking her paws!
Then, and this is how very rock and roll we are, we nipped into the local Aldi for a look see - and the Scottish Aldi was very much better than what we have at home har har. We bought a charming wooden marble run toy for Oliver for Christmas, though I was really on the look out for the wooden toaster for work. Sadly no joy. With it being a Thursday, all their new middle aisle stuff had la fed - so I had a Quick Look See and picked up but put down again a charming little resin gingerbread house ornament. I did buy a box of fancy special edition stuffing and some treats for Bkuebell for being a very brave girl.
It's really blowing a hoolie here, but we are snug and cosy and warm. My heart goes out to the people of Jamaica - the lady who owns the farm and these holiday lodges, told the HG on Sunday that her son was in Jamaica but had managed to get one of the last flights out to New York so was safe.
So
Much I've missed blogging about and it will annoy me in years to come when I rely on this for memories haha
Some up dates to record
In July, my HABC1 diabetic blood sugar levels dropped to a very respectable 30 which means I am no longer in the danger zone or anywhere near the 40 - 42 mark which I think is pre diabetic.
In August we went on holiday with everyone and Oliver was just wonderful.
In September, it was back to work as per but we have a new Headteacher and she is really lovely. The old headteacher is a dear friend so I will see her as much as we can - catch ups etc. her leaving party was fabulous and I had so much fun with my friends - that was July!
October - we came away - decided we ARE WORTH IT, we work hard for our spends and we shall therefore enjoy it. We have done the scrimping and saving through necessary means and also I do like it but you know, life is for living! My Mum in law is now safely being looked after in a small independent Care Home but has to pay for her care - which is the system - and we are all glad that she does not know this because she worked hard and saved hard all her life - as it was so in her generation
The staff there are lovely and the home itself was once a grand old affair - but it's really needing a lick of paint and some TLC to restore it to its full glory. She likes it there and we know she is as safe as can be.
Oliver and his Mum and Dad are off to Gran Canaria next week. They are coming for Christmas with us as is my Mum who lost her partner two weeks back.
Right I will add a couple of photos for posterity. I might have a look and a read of blogs I used to enjoy. I've rather got out of the habit.
I finally went to the GP about my shoulder and have so far had my X-rays, with an ultrasound booked in for November 11th. Possibly a new shoulder is on the horizon. It's very scary, but I am about at the end of my tether with pain and immobility.
Hope all is well in your world. What are you having for tea?
