Sunday

I don't want to harp on how difficult having ALL the feels around Miss21 embarking properly on grown up life is but I'd like say say thank you for all your lovely comments X

We took her bed and all her 21years collection of things up yesterday.
On the way there....
The view over Newcastle from outside her house...
Which is just lovely. Two big bedrooms, large airy lounge, smallish kitchen and huge bathroom.  It needed a bit of attention. I met the beau's  Ma n Pa for the first time. Lovely lovely people. We hit it off straight away! They'd already been round cleaning and decorating. So I cleaned out the kitchen cupboards, worked out the boiler, helped make the bed and get rid of rubbish etc. His mam painted the kitchen walls and cleaned their MASSIVE bathroom. His Dad sorted the lectrix for the telly and the HG fixed the windows, built the bed and hung the mirrors, pictures and clock. I also nipped to the shops with them to buy some cleaning essentials ( laughing as I bought them one of those 16pack of loo rolls saying to HB there'll last you a week ) and we happened upon the fridge of reduced stuff. Got approx £60 of meat for £15!
We then gave them some money to do their first proper stock the cupboards n fridge/freezer and said our farewells. I only wibbled a bit when I told them to 'be happy' !

On the way back!

The rest of yesterday was mostly taken up with watching the rugby.

It's lovely and sunny today but cold with it. Had a busy week. Four days of Holy Week at school then four lovely days off! I need a rest!

Hope all's well in your world.

Lots of love from

  5. How exciting for Miss 21. Her first grown up home.
Lovely to know both sets of parents helped with so much and it will be greatly appreciated by them I'm sure.
One down and one to go then. Unfortunately I know that hubby and I will never get to the stage of having the house to ourselves-x-

  7. I know the feeling well But you will enjoy their news- their achievements and while the relationship changes they are still our babies( my son who is 23 and totally independent now, still phones daily and from time to time seeks reassurance). We have done our"job" well. They are growingand independent. My love and thoughts are with you. I too work in a church school and am looking forward to this Holy Week. Love to you all Wandaxx

    1. Hi Wanda, thanks for popping by :-)
We've a special four days planned with RE being done all morning with lots of differently themed activities for the children. They are all being mixed up too as they will be in their 'family worship' groups. They are groups of 21 children, 3 from each year group from Rec to Y6.
This year we are building the garden and the tomb as a massive focal point and parents are invited in every day. Our Vicar is brilliant!
      :-)

  8. Well done! I think a little wibbly moment is perfectly acceptable. I am sure I would have cried buckets, even thinking about Flo leaving home is making me well up and she is only 8! What a great mum you so obviously are.

  10. A new chapter for you all. It must feel very strange your daughter not being there. Their flat sound really big, and they have a spare room for when you visit, and that view is amazing.
Mixing up the year groups is a good way of helping the children to work with each other. They can learn so much without realising it whilst having fun at the same time.

  11. It sounds like she's set up nicely which must be reassuring. It must be so exciting for the pair of them. I've decided I'm keeping hold of Lily. She's never leaving her mama. X

  13. I know, it's terrible when they go especially when you've been close. My youngest son went last November.Four down to two. ......that was hard enough.....then hubby went in February. Now it's four down to ONE ! I hope you never have to cope with that. It's another way of life entirely.

  14. It sounds like they've both got very supportive parents and have been given a fantastic start on their new journey together. I think you've done very well and a little wibble is to be expected. Is Miss 21 good at phoning or texting or could it be a while before she makes contact. I don't think Amy would give us a second thought, unless she needed something haha. Have a lovely week at school. Only 3 days left :) xx

    1. Well, she's good at getting in touch when she wants something hahaha! We are not on the phone everyday. I don't see the point if you've nothing to say! But we do text and speak once a week. Then there's Facebook and Twitter and Instagram that I can keep tabs on her!!!

  15. Just want to send you virtual hugs, Rachel. As you know I've been through this several times with mine and it never gets easier. I still miss the ones that have flown the nest but keep in touch often. At least you know they've moved somewhere nice. Love and hugs, Helen xx
