Junior Disco

Just got back in from the Junior Disco.

The place where all the boys play tig, run around in circles and slide across the floor on their knees, pausing only to eat eat ALL the hot dogs and the girls huddle together in groups eating sweeties!

Actually, my class, have been THE best dancers ever. The boys danced longer and harder than the girls. The girls were dressed age appropriately and looked gorgeous with their glittery shoes. I was on temperature request control duty. This consists of opening the hall door so an icy arctic blast can cool off the red faced sweaty boys on verge of collapse!
My ears are ringing!

I'm just off now to Sainsrobbers, to see if there are any bargains to be had. I'll let you know if I get any!

Lots of love from

  1. I can remember all the Dad's coming to pick us up, my Dad included standing along the back wall waiting for the disco to finish. It use to ruin the "last dance" The one where the lad had summoned up the courage to ask you for!

    1. No chance of boys dancing with girls at Primary! But I'm chuckling at the Dad's thwarting the potential young love at your discos!!

  2. The guys in worked loved the 'my arm has fainted', from last time.

  3. Sounds like most wedding "evening do" that I have been to, only the boys are older and the girls are slurping back trifle/cheesecake washed down with fizz. I have had some decent bargains this week and may score some tomorrow.

    1. It just gives you the best feelings! Though your latest haul was a rock bottom priced winner!

  5. I used to help at school discos when Lou was at Junior School. The best bit was when you handed the sugar crazed darlings back to the horrified parents. Retribution towards those who never volunteered to do any of the fundraising!!! x

  6. Oh no! The school disco. I have memories of selling fizz and packets of crisps to red faced, overheated children while some awful music gets pounded into my very soul. Thank you for the reminder. I have a few years left before the experience faces me once more. X

    1. It'll probably be EXACTLY the same too! I think it's a rite of passage - to have been a child at one, and to have been a helper at one!

  7. You've managed to describe every school disco down to a T, especially the boys running around the girls in groups. No sweets at Amy's discos, the head of PTA decreed it. However, she would quite happily go out and buy the cheapest tins of donkey dogs she could find, you know the ones where there's 100 in a tin for 20p! I never minded helping out at anything, it was the flipping hour added on at the end for clearing up that used to be the straw that broke the proverbial. xx

    1. Our school secretary has that covered - she patrols the dance floor all evening, black rubbish sack in hand!! We are supposed to be a 'healthy school' but what child is going to want to buy bags of carrot sticks? Ours eat those hideous mechanically removed 'meat' hotdogs too
      Bleeurgh!

  8. Oh gosh! The school disco! We only had them at secondary school, I went to an all girls. The boys school would come and stand on one side and we stood on the other and just ignored each other! What fun hey! Happy Valentines! xx

    1. At my all girls' secondary, we didn't have discos!! Just joint operas with the boys' school. Exactly the same happened though!
