Headache

I wonder if it will work on nextdoor's almost two year old? I also like how the ladies boobs and particularly nipples point skyward - mine, sans le bra would be falling into my armpits!

So readers of my blog from the very beginning will know that the house nextdoor to me >>>>that way must be cursed! When I first moved in there was a lovely elderly couple - the husband died not long after and the wife was a dear sweet thing who loved my children. Sadly she died and that's when the interesting years began! The first couple demolished the house and spent hours of banging and hammering etc as they did it up. They had children.  They were OK but I wouldn't class them as friends. They were AWFUL at parenting. AWFUL. Yanno in my Judgey Mc Judgey opinion.  I am well aware my children are grown up and I may be wearing my rose tinted glasses but whilst they had their moments they never screamed and created the way all the neighbours children do! The dad in particular was a SLAVE to his first born. That child was highly entertained and indulged and never had to wait for anything...therein lies the problem. And please don't forget I do this for a living and as well as raising two successful kids, I have worked in schools for years and have had lots of training etc. The first thing I try to embed in the children that I work with is delayed gratification. It pays dividends, it really does. Anyway, their children screamed a lot.  They moved. Hooray.

The next couple altered the house - not as much banging and hammering. They had children who screamed a lot. They were slightly less awful at parenting.  A passerby would think the first born was called Buddy because that is how they addressed the cherub. And some other things that people can message me if they want to know!

In moved couple number 3. They are LOUD, but I really like them.
Why so loud? This is as a result of
1. Younger than us so  full of energy and joie de vivre as opposed to us Mr & Mrs Quiet and Peaceful on the whole.
2. LAMINATE FLOORING THROUGHOUT and painted walls - absoutley NO scarpets and ewall coverings that do absorb at least some noise!  - and the love of fresh air in their house, so the windows and doors are wide open thus ensuring all the noise is released! Children banging about and playing is good - not so much when they are not yours and you can hear them all the time. The almost 2 year old is teething, the mum said but today she must be cutting some gigantic sabre tooth size gnashers given the amount of absolute screaming she has done. The older child takes much delight in winding up his baby sister ( we have seen this ) and doesn't listen to his Mum much either.  The baby hasn't been easy to placate today - I was thinking - PLEASE TAKE THEM OUT FOR A WALK TO FEED THE DUCKS - but nope. Not even been in the garden much today. I think the mum may be at her wit's end. I know I would be. Had we not been in lockdown - I wouldn't be privvy to all of this as I would be at work. But today - the noise and I cannot exxagerate strongly enough how loud it is and how it started at 6am -  has given me an actual real life headache! Mum has spoken a bit about it and I reassured her that they have all had a massive upheaval. Number one - the move - In January this year. Then lockdown - Mum is normally at work, the little one has Nursery and is in the care of her grandparents etc. If I could I would have offered to take the older one with me whilst I walked Bluebell but I don't really know them well enough yet - what if he ran off? His recall might not be as good as Blues!! Or taken the baby a walk in her pram. I don't know - it's tough.
So my paracetamols have worked and will be sympathetic when I see them but come on Universe - sort it out - peaceful contented children and a mysterious benefactor thanks!
I just had a thought, maybe she encouraged the screaming as payback for my kitchen kareoke when I was cooking the Sunday lunch!! I may have been warbling rather loudly! Ah well, don't want to speak to soon - but all is quiet. That poor little cherub must be exhausted.

I polished and hoovered. I actually got out the tin of Mr Sheen ( who is singing the advert now? ) and a duster. The dust was dusty! I cut the grass. I walked the dog. I also SAT DOWN A LOT! I played Candy crush, I checked Facebook etc. I attended my SW zoom meeting and made tea. I stripped the bed  as it's been the perfect drying day here. Warm, sunny and brisk of breeze. and am so looking forward to getting into my freshly made bed with line dried sheets. Bliss.

I love this! It's me!

This is what I am making out of what I call my Bird Poo fabric! It will also be able to be worn when decorating! Its a stretch jersey and I am trying a Tilly and the Buttons tunic. Think it's called a STEVIE dress. That neck was a right &^%$£$^*.
Sleeves tomorrow. I can either do a real sleeve or cuff sleeves. I will decide tomorrow.

Right, am off to find some thing to watch on the TV before bed. I'll not be long.

Lots of love from
Rachel *Will definitely be buying a detached house miles away from anyone if she wins the euromillions tonight* Radiostar xx

  1. Haha, LD has been a noisy event here at times as well. We have a mid 20's couple next door but one to us who love their music and fresh air. I always thought flinging open the windows was a saying, I didn't actually think they could be flung open as wide as theirs go. They sit at the bottom of their garden and are continually shouting at ALEXA to play this, that and the f**king other! Mark speaks to the lad and he's really nice and the girl always lets on so I don't want to complain because let's face it, these are 'strange and unusual' times and normally they're at work so I don't hear a thing.

I think I should encourage Amy to play her ukulele in the garden and you should do the same with Mr 23. I've no idea how good Mr 23 is but I know they wouldn't last 5 minutes if I set Amy on them lol.

I really like the top, in fact I think I've something similar in the wardrobe! Hope tomorrow is a bit quieter for you. xx

    1. OOOO you will have to show me your top! It's now 'tomorrow' and it's already quieter! Ive chatted to Mum over the fence as we did our morning dog poo hunt in our pjs and she was so apologetic - I was telling her it won't last forever! Your Alexa comment made me howl because it reminded me of a drunken afternoon work summer outing that I do every year with the girls who I work at the after school club and we were atrocious - we were shouting at Alexa and swearing at her when she got it wrong!! My friend's neighbour tentatively asked her the next day if she would be having a party again today hahaha shameful behaviour!

  2. OMG! NOISE!!
my neighbour two down breeds regularly and each one screams for at least a year. When bedtime looms they all go out to play and argue in their garden and if they annoy him enough, dad sets too with the chainsaw. It's ok, he has felled trees to punish!
Once again, you made me laugh although I also empathised.
Hope your headache vanishes for tomorrow.
    I have a name now😉!

  3. It's not until you have prob with the people who live next to you, do you realise the joy of good neighbours, after almost 9 years of living next to our ranting mad cat woman, I would swap for your screaming kids. Lock down can't end soon enough. Bird poo top is fun, you are brave if it's stretchy fabric.

    1. No it's absoulety fine! I have no wish for mad cat ladies thank you very much! And as I said I do actually like the new ones - ying and tang I suppose with the screaming!!! It is very stretchy fabric, but I stay stitched round all the edges and took it slow and steady trying not to pull it out of shape!

  6. I understand your pain!! We have really nice neighbours who have 2 girls 11 and 13. The 11 year old is autistic and her sister loves to push her buttons. Her coping mechanism is to scream, very high pitched scream, could make your hair curl!! Fortunately we are in detached houses so we only hear them when they are outside, but the nice weather is here, maybe I'll have to wear winter ear muffs, haha!! They're nice kids but the younger one has a lot of issues. Everything is black or white, no grey areas.
I like your bird poo tunic, looks really light and airy. It will be nice and cool for summer.

  7. I do sympathise with you and them as being autistic is hard work for all. All behaviour is communication mind and I think I probably did a lot of screaming at my two sisters - the youngest especially who really wound me up! I hope the tunic fits me after all the effort! If it does, and I like it I have loads of fabric that I can use to make more.

  8. I don't know how you can stand it! Luckily although I am surrounded by small kids in my neighbourhood I don't hear them much unless they are in their gardens. I am hard of hearing which I suppose can be a blessing at times haha. I love the name of your fabric and I do hope that you will model said tunic once it's finished so that we can see what it looks like.

  9. We have a single blott on the noisy neighbour landscape. Radio 1 full blast evry dry afternoon while his dog howls along. That was till the lady whose garden vacks onto his forced her way through the hedge and offered to plant his radio where the sun doesn't shine. All is peace and harmony now. BUT the house next door has been sold and nobody has any idea what the purchaser is like, married, single, childless or a full brood. Time will tell, the garden is a wilderness of twitch, raspberry canes and nettles so hopefully that will keep them quiet. Have you considered ear defenders?
