My first Christmas Card of the year!

It arrived on December the first. Isn't it gorgeous! It made me as warm and as fuzzy as the Christmas Tree on the front of it.
I joined in with the super lovely idea of Amy's, in her blog .... http://lovemademyhome.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/five-on-friday.html
I was paired up with
Angela, a lovely lady whose blog I've read forever!! http://gardenteacakesandme.co.uk
I'm not bothered about trees at this time of year ( LOOK AWAY CT ) because they've already been chopped down for the cards I bought! I use the cards after Christmas ( tags and lists ) and I love the fact someone took the time to write one for me so I will jolly well put them up and send them out wily nily!!

This morning I had a bath. I knowwww! Twice in one week!
This is because I found all this Sanctuary Spa stuff from Boots stashed in my wardrobe! I have issued a notice to the HG, no smellies please this year for Christmas! He keeps asking what I want. Truth is I want nowt. I want for nowt. I think I'd rather we save any money from presents we'd bought on a cheeky weekend away - after all, im covered, travel - sized smellies wise!

Miss 21 has gone to work and will go straight to Newcastle for a weekend away with her beau. I mentioned to her Dad that I do not actually like it when she leaves!! Despite my ranty last post. But I will miss her and will fret for her safety on the walk to work ( dark and rainy ), the train journey ( stranger danger ), the car journey to Richmond ( other drivers)!

It's so easier to deal with when she's not leaving from my front door. I'm going to be on pins with all the New Zealand stuff!

At school it's uber busy with Christmas Stuff. I've perma ear worms going on
" Mare reeeeeeeeee is gunna have a bay beeeeee"
And
"We're on the run, on the run"
Both very catchy annoying bloody tunes!
The Christmas Fayre is looming. So my class have made ( my idea! ) salt dough gingerbread men to hang on the tree.
Here's one of the better ones ( that's already been bought! Pre decoration )

Incase you want to
It's
One part plain flour
1/2 of that one part ordinary cheap table salt
Enough water to mix to a soft dough
Food colouring ( I used Sugarflair that I use for my cake decorating )

Don't overwork too much ( see below )

Bake on low till hard.

This is what we did however the school oven only has one hot hot heat so some of the gingerbread men are slightly deformed!!! The children spent ages working the dough and hot hands made it sticky so lots of extra flour made its way in and air! So some of them have fat bellies and humpbacks ! Once they have their googly eyes glued on next week they'll be utterly charming and adorable!!!

I've FINALLY started Christmas shopping!
Some things have now at least been ordered and I need to look for my wrapping paper.

Hey Mrs G, did the book find you? Have you read it yet?

Right, I must put down the tech and get doing stuff! The HG is off out tonight on a school reunion so Mr 18 and me have decided we are going to have ourselves a Chinese Takeaway! Wooooo yeah!
I had loads of other stuff to tell you but alas have totally forgotten!
Lots of love from

Rachel *Mare reeeeeee, is gunna have a Bay beeeeee* Radiostar xxx

  1. We have booked a long weekend away in January for our Christmas gift to each other. I love sanctuary products, I always take them on holiday with me. Going to see Sam's (grandson) 1st Nativity soon, can't wait.

    1. If you lived here, you'd have to be setting off on a row boat! It's bad bad weather! Sam will be utterly adorable in it X

    1. The floods are a real threat to safety now. I'm watching the news aghast. I'm not in any flood path thank goodness but my roof has just started to leak a bit!

  3. Is the tree still fluffy on your card or have you stroked it flat? :) Goodness you have some smellies there girl!! Mike keeps on asking me what I want for Christmas apparently I'm not allowed to have any more craft supplies so lord knows what I will end up with. Those gingerbread men are wonderful & quite an eclectic range of colour!! xx

  5. Now I want a takeaway.... I'll forgive you the trees because I expect they're all conifers :o) Loving the pot-bellied hunchbacks. We used to make gingerbread shapes for the tree and some of the decorations were....interesting. Always raised a smile at Christmas! The dogs loved it, especially those hung quite low down at about dog-height :o) Happy weekend lovely girl XXX

    1. I'd be quicker getting you to deliver it! Half the roads are closed so it's going to be a late late one! Oh well, I'll just do some Pre Christmas tidying jobs to while away the hours!!

  6. Are the gingerbread men intended for eating eventually? Just wondering.

  9. My first visit to your blog and I love the fast pace of your musings on life. Seems busy and fun. Love salt dough. All our decorations for the past 22 years have been red salt dough hearts. Wonderful x

  10. I love the gingerbread men, what a good idea. And do I spot a couple of gingerbread girls as well? What is it with smellies? I either get none at all for Christmas or the world and his wife buy me them. Not complaining mind, any gift is very much appreciated.

I'm worrying already about Amy having to travel to and from Manchester City Centre next year. I'm just hoping all her classes finish early so she doesn't have to travel home in the dark! She looks at me as though I'm mad when I say things like this to her though. And lord help me when she's driving. I'll be a nervous wreck. xx

    1. The dark travel home is the worst!! I cried last night watching the news as there was a man who is currently travelling round sixth forms with the wreckage of the car his son died in to warn youngsters about safe driving. I just looked at Mr 18 and said he could get a car when he's 30.

  11. So pleased you loved the card, it's lovely and fluffy felt for stroking - not just me then :)

Plenty of smellies there to keep you supplied for several years, which surely equals many weekend breaks.

  12. Those Gingerbread men are lovely. I love getting smellies for Christmas, they're different from the usually and smell gorgeous. Your card arrived a few days ago. I'm not that organised with the cards yet.
