My Friday was a bit HOT.

Hello folks, I do love the bloggy love you've been wrapping me in with your comments! I'm way easily pleased and the fact that people read and then take the time to reply makes me feel like I've a million penpals!

It was lovely to see a comment from Annabeth, especially about Aunty Olive's Gingers!
The little waistcoat fits it's new owner perfectly!

Yesterday at work I mostly whinged and whined about how hot I was. I only dress lightly too. I was bloody boiling. I was sweating like a pig! None of this lady perspiring nonsense! Proper shiny face red hot overheating was occurring. But the school's central heating has been cranked on.  I work in a teeny classroom filled with 30 giant 10/11 year olds who talk. A lot. So all the hot air is added too!
I tell you what, I'm not even *that* age yet, but when I am, I'll be spontaneously combusting and all that'll be left is me flip flops!
(Googles perimenopause) *cries*
Still, it's something to look forward to....

The BBC weather report showed unseasonally warm temperatures. I'm very ready for it to get COLD.

Night Owls proved awful in the end. An incident requiring us Mature Owls  to spring into emergency services action left us all a bit shaken. Two first aided ( Me and my chum  who stayed first aiding ) whilst one ( me) rang 999 while one ( my other chum ) herded the rest of the owlets away. Group effort. All was well, all was ok.
All is well im glad to say and we can relax over the weekend. Hopefully that's all the excitement covered for a very, very very long time.

So it's Saturday. I think it's stopped raining. The HG is going to power wash the front. I'm mostly going to be having myself a craftsy kinda day. It's chicken, bacon and leek bake for tea. Aunty Olive's and bread will be baked and maybe some Gram flour mince pies. That's because of Pam!

I'm just going to read some more of my book first. I get loads of books from my Ma in law. She gets them off a lady, who gets them off a lady, who gets them off a lady. I then pass them on, to people who pass them on etc
I do use the library, but a) it's in town and I hate going into town unless it's absolutely necessary and b) I'm RUBBISH at remembering when they need to go back!
So this book, I think would be BRILLIANT  for TV. It's an easy read page turner! It's twisty and turny and has kept me guessing throughout. I think I know who the killer is....

If you'd like to read it after me, I'll send it to you! ( leave a separate comment with your address )

Right folks, I'll sithee tomorrow when hopefully, like Annie sang, the sun'll come out. I've a few bulbs left to shove in, er I mean carefully and thoughtfully plant!

Lots of love from

Rachel *lazy Saturday face* Radiostar xxx

  1. Welcome to my world.....I'm every single one of those dwarves - and I'm on HRT!!! Doesn't bear thinking about what I'd be like without it. Thanks for mentioning the mince pies.....must make mincemeat this weekend (so THAT'S what it was.....I'd thought this morning when I woke up 'must do that thing this weekend'. Only I couldn't remember what 'that thing' was....see, No. 6 of the dwarves!). Have a nice craftsy day.

  2. Oh dear! I hope you're having a bit less of a warmth on today. It was mild though. I'm someone who feels the cold easily and even I was hot. Classrooms are very stuffy too. I hope you get the opportunity to plant your bulbs. Rubbish weather here today. X

  3. It is so hot, I am wearing summer clothes to work, typical MOD, heating went on in October, just one set level, pipping hot, we must enjoy it, because at some point it will break down and we will be frozen for weeks.

  4. Having had a hysterectomy at 39 I hit the menopause with a vengeance a year ago - oooooooooofffffffffffffff! It is NOT fun! :( Still, only another 9 years to go for some of the symptoms to disappear, according to one lovely article I found! ;)

  5. I was those dwarves, just for a short while though. I always run hot and am struggling at night, the duvet has been changed to the summer one and I still wake up with it stuck to me. The book looks good so sling my name in the hat please. I made a mincemeat and apple shortbread slice yesterday.
, I used half gram flour and half ground almonds and it is lush. The rest of my roses turned up and they sent me daffs and narcissi bulbs and 100 crocus bulbs as a freebee. So now I have to venture out into storm Abigail to see if I can squeeze them in.

  6. The first aider call to duty sounds very dramatic, glad it all ended well. Hope you all gave yourselves a pat on the back for working so well together. I'm constantly freezing so in a bizarre way I'm quite looking forward to a hot flush or two. Enjoy your craftsy day. xx

  8. I'm like you. I am always moaning that I'm hot, and every day without fail, by the middle of the day I look flushed and blotchy. Every. Single. Day. And shiny. And sweaty. It's one of the reasons I dislike summer, I know I'm just going to be a greasy mess, yet everyone around me looks cool and fresh. So not fair.

Yeah, menopause is going to be a bucket load of fun for us, isn't it. If we are like this already, there is no hope!

Glad to see you are getting into the spirit of WM :O) ha ha. Your comments today have had me roaring with laughter! xx

  9. Know what you mean about first aider duties. Our school now has a defibrillator which the training suggests is diseptively easy to use but I'm losing sleep over! And it has to be checked each week to ensure its charged (doesnt even bare thinking about!!!!). Whoever invented HRT deserves the Nobel Peace prize as I was definately psycho dwarf without that! Lol, xx

  10. Oh, I remember those hot and cold sessions. Getting old definitely has its compensations. Thank goodness it does seem to be getting a bit colder now although I know how hot classrooms can get!
The chicken, bacon and leek bake sounds fantastic and I reckon something similar will do perfectly when I have a friend a-visiting! Thanks.
