Little waistcoat

FINALLY I've finished something! It went to its new owner today! 
As usual I did my 'which button' dilemma. In the end I went with the darker wooden buttons. 
For once I managed to sew them on straight first time. 
A really easy to remember pattern
Ta daaaah! 

Tea was delicious tonight. 
You cannot beat a home made ( mince only one day out of date ) cottage pie with a lid of crunchy crust, soft underneath  golden mashed potato!

    That's a gorgeous waistcoat Rachel. It looks so cosy especially with the wooden buttons to set it off beautifully. I love it. I wouldn't say no to some of that cottage pie either! X

      I can't wait to see a photo of the recipient in it! There was NO pie left! I could have eaten seconds! Not made one in ages so really enjoyed it!

    Your waistcoat looks lovely, I like the darker buttons, they bring the fleck out. I love the comfort food we eat at this time of year.

      Thanks Marlene. It was a bargain massive ball of wool. I've had three items out of it! Going to make a matching bobble hat I think.

    I do like a cottage pie, well any sort of pie really. I like cooking and eating cold weather food, I did make coleslaw on Monday though, it was far too hot here for anything heavy. Once I have finished my sewing wips I will be looking for baby blue yarn ready for February. I love knitting little garments.

      I picked up a little ball of white wool with a blue fleck through to make something for my neighbour's new arrival....due January so I should get started now!! I love home made slaw. It's so much nicer than shop bought.

    Well done on finishing the waistcoat.....now you're putting me to shame (I still haven't finished that dratted cushion....but have started another throw!). The cottage pie looks yummy.....even yummier since I'm still not eating carbs :(

      Hi Sooze, I'm still eating spuds but have gone cold turkey on the bread. No I'm not having a tasty butty! After two days I already feel better! I'm already looking at my patterns, completely ignoring the WIP bag!

    Waistcoat looks lovely and warm. I love cottage pie as long as it's made with any other kind of mince instead of beef. A veggie one with baked beans in it is yum and melted cheese on top.

    Thought it might be about time to come out of the ether, been following you lovely blog for some time now (courtesy of Joy). Love the cute waistcoat and you were spot on with the choice of buttons. That cottage pie looks so tempting I want to dip right it.

    Also need to tell you that your Aunt Olives are just gorgeous! Had two attempts, first ended up in the bin - tried to be clever and experimented with the sugar substitute Stevia, big mistake! They didn't spread properly, didn't colour nicely and were crumbly, and, most surprisingly, there was no smell of baking! And, I didn't have any golden syrup so used the liquor from preserved ginger. The trouble was I needed to do Aunt Olives there and then, couldn't possible wait until I had all the right ingredients! On the second attempt I had all the right stuff and your recipe worked like a dream, I also mixed in nine pieces of crystallised ginger, each of which I diced into six.
    Next trial is going to be bread, I was given a silicone bread bowl thingy for my birthday ....

      The bread might be a funny shape, but it is delicious! Aunt Olive would be amazed that her fingers have been praised far and wide! I'm going to make some today and use your idea of posting them up with some stem ginger - I've a jar lurking at the back of the cupboard!

      No, I found you through Joy's blog (how could I not be intrigued by that name!) and the only thing I have in common with her Beth is we share a birthday - and a love of cats!! Thinking of birthdays, Joy's coincided with my now departed cat Amber. Life's just too weird at times.
