Will this term ever end??

Hello folks,

I've had an AMAZING week- one of the BEST days of my whole life- watching my  daughter Graduate-  topped off with a wonderful weekend away in York. The first child free break we've ever taken! The boy is 18 and although he was left with a full freezer and an emergency £20 note, I was still a bit fretful!! How people can go away without their children is beyond me! I'm not being Judgey Mcjudge here, just my opinion!
I'll be back with photos galore! Just got the small matter of another two sodding days at school to get through!

I've also got ALL of your blogs to catch up and comment on. That's my bedtime reading tonight sorted!

Bye for now
Love from
Rachel *Spent £10 in the old fashioned sweet shop in Skipton on Sunday!!!!* Radiostar xx

  2. Hi Rachel, I'm sat here catching up with blogs as well before bracing myself for whatever this week brings! Looking forward to seeing some graduation pictures, glad you had a lovely day. We've been away overnight without Amy when she was younger, Tom and Joan would look after her. But we've never been away on our own since Thomas was born and that's coming up for 10 years now. Mind you, I think I will worry more when they are older and able to be left on their own. Hope the next 2 days fly by. xx

  3. Our lot never wanted to holiday with us once they got to 16. we were much too boring. Thankfully never came home to any disasters or dead animals, just heaps of washing up and mucky floors.
Hope you survive your last days at school ............and what did you buy with the £10 in a sweet shop?

  4. Isn't it emotional seeing your child graduate, hopefully I will have another one in 6/7 years I shall prepare myself better then! Glad you had a lovely weekend away I don't like leaving my kids either, booking a holiday for next summer is proving fun 'What do you mean you don't want to come, you'll only be 22?' I hope you get through the next couple of days without too much of a struggle! x

    1. The house was cleaner and tidier than when we left! I know nothing untoward happened as his bossy boots sister came back!

  7. I've been doing a countdown on Violet's sandwich in her packed lunch this week (don't worry, I put it in a cellophane bag and write on that, not just write on the bread in permanent marker!) with 'day 1 of 3', then 2 of 3, and today, I've decorated the bag with happy face stickers and the words 'hurrah, school hols start here', but yes, seems to have taken an age to get here.

Mind you. I'm just enjoying my last few peaceful days, with the house staying tidy for most of it. Much as I love having her home, I can live without all her crap left absolutely EVERYWHERE, with her refusal to tidy it up. Why should I? she asks. Ooh, don't get me started!

I'm a real helicopter mum. Not only will I not go away and leave her alone in the house, but I've already prewarned Bill that when she starts going out with her friends of an evening, he is to trail behind her at a distance in the car! ha ha ha! I'm not even joking!
