Had a lovely lazy day yesterday. Faffed about on Facebook and spotted this picture/page and immediately thought of Pam. I read Pam's blog everyday and she makes THE most beautiful quilts I've ever seen.
I now follow the 24 Blocks page. Here's another shot of the quilt.
Here's link to Pam's blog >>>http://agoodlifeintydd.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/bargains-and-hooky-trial.html
Yesterday, when I finally found my crochet hooks, I used You Tube and tried to make a Granny Square ! I tried so hard! As a knitter I find it difficult using wool and fingers!! But I will persevere!! My efforts are here... Looking NOTHING like the tutorial pieces!!
My first attempt at the round bit.
My second attempt looks NOTHING like the neat purple square my online tutor has.
I had one last try....
You can see how dreadful I am at this hooky mularky!! But I can also see there's a slight improvement!! The top one I tried two colours.
I will persevere though. More dreadful efforts heading your way soon then!
Right then, best get ready to go show the doctor my gammy eye! Lucky him!
Hopefully you are having a better week than me! Love from
Rachel *swollen Eye* Radiostar xx !
Oh bless your ickle cotton socks Rach, hope you get your lumpy bits sorted out soon m'dear x
ReplyDeleteThanks John! Me too! Nobody likes a whingey toad!!
DeleteSuch a shame after your lovely weekend. Hope it gets resolved soon. Crochet efforts not toooo bad, I think you have missed a corner on one of them and thats why it looks a little lop sided no doubt someone with a lot more experience than me will put you right. Have only rediscovered crocheting in the last couple of years. I love Pams quilt what a clever idea to make it out of ties I wonder if she told her husband she was nicking all his ties for a quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe main thing I struggle with Mitzi, is HOW CAN A CIRCLE HAVE CORNERS??!!!! I'll be having another go when I'm back from the Docs!
DeleteBest to go the the GP again - don't want you frightening small children! Hope they work it out this time.
ReplyDeleteI am also in a de-cluttering mood, it's good to lighten the load xx
Ooooh! Spookeh CT, JUST AS I WAS REPLYING TO YESTERDAY's comment - up you popped again!! Going in a minute or two
Deleteps- forgot to mention your crochet- I think that's an excellent start coz it sure isn't easy xx
ReplyDeleteOh no I hope the Dr can give you something to help relive your symptoms! With regard to your crochet, I can do a simple granny square & have been tearing my hair out lately while attempting what is supposed to be an easy ripple stitch! It isn't easy at all but as they say practise makes perfect x
ReplyDeletePerhaps I'll try a ripple stitch next!!
DeleteHow did you get on at the Dr's? Your crochet circle is looking good but to make it into a square you need start off with 4 sets of shells (3 trebles each shell) separated by 2 chain. next row you need to do 2 set of the shells into one space with 2 chain separating them. This will make one corner. Do this 3 more times. Note only 1 chain to separate the shells either side of the corners. Did this gibberish make any sense? If we liver nearer I would show you.
ReplyDeleteThat tie quilt looks amazing, I also read pam's blog. She does some wonderful sewing.

Lol Carol, when did you take up writing in Russian??!! Four sets of shells??!!! I wish you lived closer!! I'll show you my latest efforts on my next post. X
DeleteChin up dear I'm here never fear
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire, can you bring me some tea and cake? Thanks x
DeleteHope the doc's visit has eased your pain. Keep trying with the crochet - once you've mastered holding the wool and hook you're nearly there. At the beginning it always feels as though you should have 3 hands!
